MINI, the BMW Group-owned British marque, will be launching its first all-electric vehicle, the MINI Electric, in India on February 24, 2022. The company announced the car last year, and even opened pre-bookings for the electric vehicle in October 2021, for a token of ₹ 1 lakh. Within days the entire first batch of 30 cars was sold out. The electric hatchback will arrive in India as a completely built unit (CBU) and is expected to be around ₹ 50 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The 3-Door MINI Electric, which is also called the MINI Cooper SE in some markets, made its global debut in 2019 and is the electrified version of the iconic British hatchback. Visually, the model comes with a set of quirky 17-inch alloy wheels, while retaining elements like the round headlamps, Union Jack themed LED taillights, round ORVMs, and that familiar profile. The MINI Electric also differentiates itself with the blank front grille panel and a new ‘E’ badge. The electric 3-Door will be available in four colours – White Silver, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey and British Racing Green, with contrast yellow highlights on wheels and yellow ORVMs.

The cabin design has been carried over from the standard MINI Cooper 3-Door, but you do get elements that hint at its electric nature. In terms of features, the MINI Electric gets an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 5-inch digital instrument cluster, Nappa leather upholstery and more. The yellow theme from the exterior is also carried over inside and can be seen on the dashboard and centre console. With all four seats upright, the car offers a boot space of 211 litres, which can be expanded upto 731 litres with the rear seats folded.
