The special edition M 1000 RR gets additional standard kit over the regular model
BMW Motorrad has revealed a special edition of the M 1000 RR sportbike to commemorate 50 years of BMW M. The M 1000 RR or M RR for short is BMW’s first M branded motorcycle getting a number of mechanical and cosmetic updates over its sister model the S 1000 RR. BMW Motorrad has not made too many changes to the anniversary edition – called the M 1000 RR 50 Years M – with most of the mechanicals and design left untouched from the regular M 1000 RR. Where the anniversary edition does differentiate itself is the new paint shade and the optional M Competition package as standard.
The biggest change to the special edition motorcycle is that it gets a lot of the optional M Competition package from the standard M RR as standard fit and is available in a new paint shade.

The M RR 50 Years M anniversary edition is finished in Sao Paulo Yellow – a colour that will strike people as familiar as it’s also offered on the M4 – with the M logo is prominently emblazoned on the fuel tank. The standard fit M Competition pack meanwhile adds in bits such as multiple carbon fibre styling elements, M GPS Lap Timer trigger software, rear seat cover and passenger kit, a lighter anodised aluminium swingarm, low friction M Endurance chain, billet aluminium engine protectors and folding brake and clutch levels.

Mechanically the bike remains unchanged from before. Power comes from the familiar 999cc, liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine developing 209 bhp at 14,500 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm.
