The Honda City e:HEV draws power from a 1.5-litre petrol motor coupled with 2 electric motors

Power on the Honda City hybrid will come from the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, Atkinson Cycle petrol engine and two electric motors. The combined output stands at 124 bhp and 253 Nm of peak torque. Honda claims the City Hybrid is 40 per cent more fuel-efficient than its petrol counterpart and returns a claimed 26.5 kmpl. Do note that the Hybrid version is about 110 kg heavier than its petrol-powered version. The City e:HEV also gets updated with disc brakes at all corners and an electronic parking brake.

The Honda City e:HEV also has three drive modes – EV, hybrid and petrol, which can be toggled via a rotary knob. The car can run completely on electric power in the EV mode when you’re gentle on the throttle. Visually, there are no changes to the car in design while the cabin does get subtle upgrades in the form of new upholstery and a hybrid-specific instrument cluster. The hybrid meter on the console shows when the car is running on electric power, when it’s sourcing more power from the petrol engine and when it is regenerating energy.
