Kia India has launched its highly anticipated Carens three-row vehicle in the country. The new MPV has been introduced at an aggressive price point which starts at ₹ 8.99 lakh and goes up to ₹ 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Of course, these are introductory prices and Kia is expected to make an upward revision in the next 2 to 3 months. The Kia Carens has gained quite a bit of attention from consumers as well. In the last one month since the bookings began, the company has garnered over 19,000 pre-orders. So, if you too are considering the Kia Carens, here’s everything you need to know about it.

Here’s All You Need To Know About The Kia Carens:
- The Carens employs the company’s ‘Opposites United’ design language. In fact, it will be the first Kia vehicle in India to follow the new design language, which globally made its debut with the Kia EV6.
- The new Kia Carens is a three-row MPV that’s offered in both 6- and 7-seater options. The company offers it in 5 trim levels – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury, and Luxury Plus – and, the 6-seater version with captain seats in the second row is only offered as an option with the top-end Luxury Plus trim.

So, you get the entry-level Smartstream 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 113 bhp with 144 Nm of torque, and this one is only offered with the Premium and Prestige variants of the car.
- Kia also offers the powerful 1.4-litre T-GDi turbo petrol engine that develops 138 bhp with 242 Nm of peak torque, along with the 1.5-litre CRDi VGT diesel motor that makes 113 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. These two engines are available with all five variants.

As for the 1.4-litre T-GDi motor and the 1.5-litre CRDi VGT oil burner, both come with a 6-speed manual gearbox, along with an optional 7-speed DCT automatic and a 6-speed torque converter, respectively.
- Depending on the variant you get, the Kia Carens comes with all the modern bells and whistles that you might like. So, the list includes – LED headlights, LED daytime running lamps, premium chrome accents, 16-inch alloy wheels, electrically operable ORVMs with integrated lights, roof rails, LED taillamps, wheel arch & underbody cladding, and a chunky rear bumper with chrome details.

Additionally, the seven-seater variants will feature electric one-touch tumble seats for easy third-row access.
- The carmaker also offers its latest connected car technology – Kia Connect, which comes with 66 features such as geofencing, live vehicle status and tracking, and certain remote-controlled features like engine start/stop, climate control operation, and door lock/unlock. You also get the latest Smart Pure Air Purifier with Virus and Bacteria protection unit in the second row.
- In terms of safety, the Kia Carens will come with six airbags and all four-disc brakes as standard along with other driver-assist features like, electronic stability control, hill descent control, rollover mitigation, and hill assist among others.
- On paper, the Kia Carens is capable enough to take on the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector, Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and even the Toyota Innova Crysta. However, with its aggressive pricing, the Carens now also rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the XL6, and the Mahindra Marazzo.
