Mercedes car tuner Brabus has been working on the firm’s first motorcycle project, joining hands with KTM, and now official detail and images have ben released. As expected, the company’s first project with KTM uses the KTM 1290 Super Duke R as a platform and shares the same frame and engine. Production of the new Brabus 1300 R will be limited to just 154 bikes, 77 in Magma Red and 77 in Signature Black. The number 77 is a nod to the founding year of the brand, 1977, and it’s been churning out high-end Mercedes-based supercars since then. The KTM-Brabus 1300 R project is the company’s first venture into the world of two-wheelers.

The Brabus 1300 R is heavily based on KTM’s 1290 Super Duke R, sharing the same engine rated at 177 bhp and 140 Nm of torque. The Brabus 1300 R gets new air intakes on either side of the fuel tank, and a stacked exhaust system with a black ceramic finish.
The Brabus 1300 R will also get the same semi-active WP Apex SAT suspension as the new Super Duke R Evo, with the Suspension Pro feature as standard. This suspension adds the ability to control the rear ride height from the TFT panel, with three levels, Low, Standard, or High.
The TFT instrument console is one of the components that is changed for the Brabus 1300 R, with a new start-up screen that shows the Brabus logo. The seat also takes inspiration from Brabus cars, and is available in either red, or black. The big visual difference is of course the face, as well as the flanks, with a carbon fibre cowl sitting on top of a circular headlight, covered with the Brabus logo. Bar-end mirrors hang from the ends of the adjustable position bars, and there’s liberal use of carbon fibre on the front fender as well as the brake air ducts, borrowed from the Super Duke RR.
