Mahindra Electric EVs have crossed the 400 million km milestone.
Mahindra Electric has announced that its vehicles have crossed a whopping 400 million electric kilometres which is equivalent to saving over 40,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions. The company also says that it would require to plant 18.50 lakh trees on earth to save that much CO2 emissions and the numbers are likely to increase once its new EVs go on sale in the market. Last week, Mahindra & Mahindra dropped the first teaser for its new electric SUV line-up that will arrive in the latter part of the decade.

Earlier in 2021, Mahindra had announced that it will launch 16 electric vehicles in India by the end of this decade. The company has earmarked an investment of ₹ 3,000 crore, and out of these 16 EVs, 8 of them will be electric SUVs. The company also mentioned that out of the 8 electric SUVs, 4 from the company’s current portfolio will make the transition to becoming all-electric models, while the rest will be all-new electric SUVs.

The first SUV, though, will be launched as early as next financial year and yes it will be the XUV300 making the transition. The XUV300 EV will be launched in Q3 or Q4 of FY23 and will be followed by other new EVs in the pipeline. The eXUV300 was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and we got a glimpse of what the car would look like. In fact, the company back then had said that the XUV300 electric was powered by an electric motor driving the front wheels likely churning out 130 bhp. The power to the motor will be provided by a 40 kWh battery pack capable of delivering a range of above 300 km on a single charge.
