New Mercedes EQS SUV Interior Revealed Ahead Of Debut

EQS SUV’s cabin design and layout stay in line with its sedan sibling but with the addition of a third row of seating.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the interior of the new EQS SUV ahead of the model’s global debut on April 19. Previewed by the Maybach EQS SUV concept last year, the new EQS will be the company’s flagship electric SUV in a rapidly expanding range of all-electric models being launched globally by the German carmaker. While Mercedes will reveal all details tomorrow, the images of the EQS SUV’s cabin reveal a familiar design with the most notable difference coming in the form of the third row of seating.

As with the EQS sedan, the SUV too get the massive curved Hyperscreen comprising of a central touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster and the co-driver touchscreen. The entire unit is wrapped in ambient lighting with slim central air vents atop the display and circular vents integrated into the unit on either side. As with the EQS the cabin features wood inserts throughout though here they feature tiny three-point star motifs. As one would expect, the front seats are power-adjustable, feature headrest pillows, get memory functions and individual climate zones.

Second row features rear seat entertainment screens, individual climate zones and a flat floor.

Coming to the middle row, the bench seat comes with pillow headrests for the side occupants, a collapsible centre headrest, individual climate zones and rear-seat entertainment displays. The outer seats appear to get electric adjustability with a one-touch electric fold function also expected to help access the third row of seats. The middle-row bench also gets a tablet-like touchscreen within the fold-down centre armrest. The images also reveal a third row of seats – the headrests are visible behind the second-row bench seat – though there is little to tell the amount of space that will be available from the angle visible. Also visible in the images is a panoramic sunroof.

While we wait for all details, expect the EQS SUV to pack in similar equipment to the EQS with powertrains also likely to be similar. As with the EQS sedan, one could expect a standard and AMG version of the all-electric SUV to become available in the future with last year’s concept also suggesting that a Maybach model could also be in the works.

We could expect the EQS SUV to eventually make its way to India following its global debut with Mercedes set to bring the EQS sedan to India this year. The company has also revealed its plans to locally assemble its flagship sedan in India too by the end of the year.
