The Polestar 5 made its first public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as a pre-production prototype taking part in the hill climb event.
Polestar’s upcoming flagship performance EV, the Polestar 5 has made its first public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, in England. The Polestar 5 four-door GT took part in the famous Goodwood hill climb event as well, and it is slated to be launched in 2024. The Polestar 5 is the production version of the Precept EV concept, which was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show 2020. Upon launch, the new Polestar 5 will compete with performance EVs like – Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S.
Talking about the upcoming EV, Thomas Ingenlath, CEO, Polestar said, “The Polestar 5 is a company-defining project. Its progressive design and advanced engineering set the tone for Polestar’s future. We have great talent on board enabling us to create truly iconic EVs.”
The Polestar 5 electric sports car will come with a new dual electric motor setup that is expected to offer a combined output of up to 884 bhp and 900 Nm of torque. The Polestar 5 is expected to come with one electric motor on each axel and can reportedly do a 0 to 100 kmph sprint in less than four seconds. The car is expected to come with an 800-Volt battery unit. The new electric powertrain is still under development in Sweden, and Polestar hasn’t released the full specifications of the vehicle yet. However, it’s reported that the car uses a lightweight, yet highly rigid, bonded aluminum chassis.
Talking about the new powertrain Jörg Brandscheid, Polestar’s CTO and Head of R&D, said, “The new powertrain we are working on will set a new brand benchmark in our high-performing cars. Combining strong electric motor engineering ability with advances in light-weight platform technology is leading to truly stunning driver’s cars.”

The Swedish automaker plans to launch its first electric SUV Polestar 3, along with Polestar 4, and the Polestar 5, over the next three years. Whereas the world premiere of Polestar 3 is expected to happen in the autumn of 2022.
