Skoda’s all-new compact sedan, the Slavia has crossed an impressive 10,000 bookings milestone, within one month after its launch. Bookings for the Slavia opened on November 18, the day of its global debut, and the Czech automaker impressed costumers with the ‘simply clever’ features in the sedan. The car replaces the outgoing Skoda Rapid, and has grown in size, with dimensions increasing on almost all fronts.

Skoda has launched the car in two engine options in India, a 1.0 litre TSI petrol, and a 1.5 litre TSI petrol unit, with no diesel mill on offer. Both the engines come mated to 6-speed manual transmissions, and have automatic gearboxes as an option. While the 1.0 litre petrol unit gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic as an option, the bigger and more powerful 1.5 litre petrol comes mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic. The 1.5 litre unit also gets cylinder deactivation tech, a first-in-its-class feature aimed to increase fuel efficiency under lighter loads.
