Royal Enfield reports sales of 63,643 motorcycles in May 2022
Royal Enfield has reported sales of 63,643 motorcycles in May 2022, recording a remarkable growth of 133 per cent over the sale of 27,294 motorcycles in May 2021, when the second wave of the pandemic affected the industry last year. Continuing its international growth momentum, the company sold its highest-ever motorcycles in overseas markets, 10,118 units, marking a year-on-year growth of over 40 per cent. In the domestic market, Royal Enfield continued its stable performance with 53,525 motorcycles sold in the month of May.

Compared to April 2022 sales, Royal Enfield’s overall sales in May 2022, grew by just 2.39 per cent, from 62,155 units in April to 63,643 units in the month of May. In the domestic market, sales remained flat, with April 2022 domestic sales accounting for 53,582 motorcycles, while May 2022 domestic sales accounted for 53,525 motorcycles. However, in overseas markets, Royal Enfield registered a month-on-month growth of nearly 22 per cent in May 2022. In April 2022, Royal Enfield had shipped 8,303 motorcycles, compared to over 10,118 motorcycles shipped to overseas markets in May 2022.

The sub 350 cc motorcycles continue to remain top contributors for the company with the likes of the Bullet 350, Classic 350, and Meteor 350. The Royal Enfield Scram 411 and Himalayan also continue to contribute with impressive sales volumes.

With this appointment, Govindrajan will be CEO, Royal Enfield and Wholetime Director of the Board of Royal Enfield’s parent company, Eicher Motors Ltd. For the quarter ended March 31, 2022, Eicher Motors’ total revenue from operations was at an all-time high of ₹ 3,193 crore, up by 8.6 per cent, compared to ₹ 2,940 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY 2020-21. Proft after tax was ₹ 610 crore, an increase of 16 per cent, compared to ₹ 526 crore during the same period last year.
