The lap times of the Nurburgring are sometimes disputed. As the first-placed 911, GT2 RS demonstrates. Yes, it’s a production automobile – albeit one that has been discontinued – but the world record-holder was equipped with the Manthey Performance Kit. This includes chassis, braking, and aero modifications, as well as the Weissach Package’s lightweight magnesium wheels. With the Huracán Performante still in development camouflage, Lamborghini had only a 15-minute window to make an effort. What do you think a supercar named after a hurricane will be like? The Huracán Performante is a track-ready variant of the ordinary Huracán that beat the Porsche 911 GT3 RS to the top of the Nürburgring’s top five quickest production vehicles. It made its formal premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in early March of that year, with the newly-set Nürburgring record serving as a cherry on top of Lamborghini’s press conference.
Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV – 6:59.73
The Aventador LP 750-4 SV is a lighter, more extreme variant of the normal Aventador, capable of a 7:25.00 lap time at the ‘Ring. Additional aerodynamic changes to the car’s body make it even slicker in the air, and the 6.5-liter V-12’s increased power also helps. Incredibly, something so massive can move so quickly.
Ferrari 488 Pista- 7:00.03
The 488 Pista has a history of breaking track records, having done so at Hockenheim and the Top Gear test circuit. It’s only a few seconds slower than machinery twice the price, thanks to a 710-horsepower twin-turbo V-8.
Dodge Viper ACR 2017 – 7:01.3
One of the initial ‘Ring heroes was the 2008 Viper ACR. This vicious lump of American iron established itself as a formidable competitor by dominating the circuit. So, there’s no need to worry about the 2017 automobile, which was said to be a candidate for the record. Unfortunately, the Viper ACR was unable to break the seven-minute barrier. Despite this, it is still the quickest car on the course with a manual transmission.
McLaren 720S – 7:08.34
Tim also spent time with the amazing McLaren 720S, going shopping with it, bringing up his kid from school, and waiting in M25 traffic. He did not, however, attempt a Nurburgring lap time. The ruling was that “driving it for seven days makes one weak.”
Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z06 – 7:13.9
Another hero of the American assault on the ‘Ring in the mid-to-late-2000s. The old Z06, Viper ACR, and newer Corvettes were demonstrated. As a result, the anticipation for this updated supercharged Z06 was enormous. The blue-collar hero defeated the all-carbon V10-powered LFA Nurburgring.
Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series- 6:43.616
The Black Series may be considered the most powerful Mercedes-AMG production automobile. Mercedes-AMG only produced five Black Series cars between 2006 and 2012. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, the family’s sixth and most recent member, set a Nürburgring lap time of 6:43.616 in 2020 with driver Maro Engel.
Porsche 918 Spyder – 6:57.00
The Porsche 918 Spyder held the Nürburgring production vehicle lap record for four years until the Huracan Performante dethroned it. The 918’s fast speed was achieved because of an 887-horsepower hybrid engine with an electric motor on the front axle, which provided excellent grip.
Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991.2) – 6:56.4s
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is the third production Porsche sports car on this list, with a lap time on the world’s most challenging racetrack of fewer than seven minutes. A high-speed naturally aspirated 4.0-liter engine with 520 horsepower and a 0-60mph of 3.2 seconds sits beneath its motorsport-bred chassis.
