Intel has launched its Onboard Fleet Management Services solution for India which has the sole intent of making commercial vehicles safer on the roads and more efficient for its customers. It is an designed for India solution which combines collision avoidance systems, driver monitoring systems, fleet telematics, fleet health, and fuel efficiency features – basically combines an ADAS stack with fleet management and AI in the cloud to provide a hardware and software solution for commercial vehicles.
Intel revealed that it has already deployed the solution with select partners like Sure Group Logistics, Sankyu India Logistics and Allansons. Intel and its partners reveal that the technology dramatically reduces the probability of accidents by 40-60 percent and overall efficiency losses can be reduced by up to 50 per cent.
This system also helps logistics providers see who are the better drivers in the fleet and also help them improve drivers. For insurance providers, this also enables another layer of data which helps them evaluate accidents better as they can see the health of the vehicle and the performance history of the driver and what happened in real time.

Intel claims that it has armed its customers with a best in class ADAS stack from its subsidiary MobileEye which is one of the biggest players in the ADAS and self driving space. This hardware is paired with the Onboard Fleet Management Services which is a cloud suite that is infused with AI.
The driver coaching solution that comes as a part of the Onboard Fleet Management Services activates 15 different imputes to provide individualised coaching recommendations for commercial fleets. This is extremely helpful as drivers of commercial fleets are tied up for 25 workdays per year for every accident.

This ties into the vision layer out by India’s minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari who wants to reduce the accidents on Indian roads to 50 percent of the current levels by 2025. 11 per cent of the world’s road accidents happen in India with just 1 per cent of the vehicles on road globally. Intel estimates that 6 out of 10 accidents involving commercial fleets can be prevented by timely driver interventions. Intel’s technology helps add at least more of second of reaction time.
