The Jeep Meridian 3-row SUV will be available in two variants – Limited and Limited Option
Jeep India will launch its new three-row SUV, the Meridian, in the country on May 19, 2022. Based on the same platform as the company’s mid-size SUV Compass, the new Jeep Meridian will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, and the Skoda Kushaq in the full-size SUV segment. Jeep India has already received over 1200 bookings for the SUV, which will be available in two variants – Limited and Limited Option but will be a diesel-only SUV. In fact, we have already driven the Jeep Meridian and told you all about it in our review. So, all that remains to be known is the price of the new 3-row SUV.

Currently, the Jeep Compass is priced in India at ₹ 18.04 lakh to ₹ 31 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Considering the company only plans to introduce the Meridian in the top-end Limited and Limited (O) trims, it will be priced above the ₹ 30 lakh mark. In fact, given it boasts 82 per cent local content, we would expect the company to launch the new Jeep Meridian at ₹ 31 lakh to ₹ 36 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Power in the Jeep Meridian SUV comes from the familiar 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine developing 168 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, coupled with a 6-speed manual and 9-speed torque converter automatic units. The front-wheel-drive system comes as a standard fitment with both gearboxes. Jeep says the Meridian SUV features up to 82 per cent localised components.

Visually, the Meridian certainly looks like the bigger and a more matured sibling of the Compass, with styling cues similar to the company’s flagship SUV, the Grand Cherokee. You get LED lights, sporty alloy wheels, a dual-tone exterior paint job, and a lot of chrome elements.

In terms of the equipment, the Jeep Meridian SUV will pack in a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, connected car tech with an embedded SIM, a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone connectivity, wireless phone charging, powered front seats with ventilation, a powered tailgate and much more. The safety kit includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and tyre pressure monitoring.
