After serving the Indian market for almost a decade, Renault India recently pulled the plug on its most popular product, the Renault Duster. However, the Duster is one of the most recognisable, dependable, and capable off-roaders that enjoys a strong customer base, and managed steady sales over the years. Since late 2020, the Renault Duster was offered with only two petrol models, but before that, the French carmaker offered the capable compact SUV in its diesel guise as well, which is quite popular in the pre-owned market. Pros:

1. The Renault Duster enjoys a reasonably high brand value, and so benefits from a decent resale value in the used car market.
2. It has proven to be a reliable workhorse for many households who have wished to have a powerful, easy to maintain, and sufficiently rugged SUV.
   

   The interior of the Renault Duster has largely remained the same since the beginning.   

3. You can get the pre-facelift Duster in both its petrol and diesel guises, coupled to manual and automatic transmissions, making it a sensible purchase.
4. Both the diesel variants offer an ARAI-rated fuel mileage of 19.87kmpl, irrespective of the transmission types, making it one of the most frugal models in its segment.

5. The 1.3L turbo petrol with 153 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque is the most powerful model in the segment and is even more competent than its 1.5-litre petrol counterpart.
6. The X-Tronic CVT gives a perfect combination of power and efficiency, with a well-contained rubber band effect, tuned for maximum performance.
   

   Though the Renault Duster scores low on features, it still remains one of the most fun-to-drive SUVs in its segment.

7. One of the best ride quality; with the ability to iron out bumps silently.

Cons:

1. The petrol model isn’t really fuel–efficient and has an ARAI-rated mileage of only 13.9kmpl.
2. It has one of the most outdated interiors and gets very minimal features compared to other models in the segment.
   

   The diesel powertrain was the most frugal in the Duster’s portfolio. 

3. No all-wheel-drive (AWD) system with petrol models. Comes with only diesel trims.
