The Ford Figo has been a popular name in India’s compact hatchback space for several years now. The car was first launched in 2010 and became one of the most successful cars from Ford in India. Later in 2015, the carmaker introduced the second-gen Figo in India, which was based on an advanced platform and came with new styling, premium features and new engines. Alas, the company discontinued the Figo in India last year after ending local production. However, if you do want to buy the second-gen Figo, you can still get one in the used car market. Depending on the model year and condition it will be priced between Rs. 4 lakh to Rs. 7 lakh. But before you start looking for one here are some pros and cons you must consider.
Ford offered the second-gen Figo in three engine options – 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel.
Pros
- The second-gen Figo was a much more well-built car compared to the older Figo. The built quality was nicer and the fit and finish were also better. The car also came with an “Aston Martin-Esque” which became its signature design element.
- The cabin of the Figo was quite spacious, and the fit and finish inside the cabin were also good. Depending on the variant you also get a touchscreen display with Ford’s SYNC3, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, auto climate control and push-button start.
- In terms of safety features, the car came with dual airbags and ABS with electronic brake force distribution is standard on all variants while the top-spec Titanium Blu model gets 6 airbags. The car also holds a 4-star safety rating from Latin NCAP.
- Ford offered the second-gen Figo in three engine options – 1.2-litre petrol, 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. All three engines offer good performance, however, if we had to pick, we’d go with the 1.5-litre diesel.

The Ford Figo’s cabin come with good fit and finish, and while the newer model gets nicer features, a slightly older one missed out on few features.
Cons
- Ford has stopped local production in India and like other models, the Figo too is no longer on sale in India. While there won’t be any problem over the next few years, in the long run, aftersales and spare parts availability could be an issue.
- While the built quality and space inside the cabin are certainly good, the interior does look dated. The Figo also doesn’t get projector headlights or LED DRLs even as an option, which has become quite common right now.
- Most of the features we had mentioned above were only offered with the top-spec model. In fact, even the touchscreen display was introduced much later so if you are buying a 2015-2016 model, even the top-spec trim might not have some of those features.
