The Project Triumph TE-1 electric motorcycle has been revealed in completed prototype form and is a collaboration between Triumph Motorcycles, Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE), Integral Powertrain Ltd, and WMG at the University of Warwick funded by the Office for Zero-Emission Vehicles through Innovate UK. This also marks the official end of the collaboration stage of the TE-1 project and is now fully ready for the next stage of the project to begin, which would be the live testing program. Here, Triumph will focus on developing the WAE battery pack for a class-leading power, efficiency, charging time, and range.

The overall objective of the TE-1 project has been focused on developing electric motorcycle capability, to provide input into Triumph’s future electric motorcycle offering.

The all-new battery of the Project Triumph TE-1 electric motorcycle has a peak power of 170kW and continuous power of 90kW, with a capacity of 15kWh. This enables the Project Triumph TE-1 electric motorcycle to deliver 130kW of peak power and 80kW of continuous power. The 360-volt system will also enable fast charging from 0-80 per cent in under 20 minutes. To minimise weight and packaging, a new and bespoke vehicle control unit has been integrated into the battery pack. The overall objective of the TE-1 project has been focused on developing electric motorcycle capability, to provide input into Triumph’s future electric motorcycle offering.

With the completion of the prototype demonstrator, the full live testing phase of the TE-1 project will span over the next six months, at the company’s state-of-the-art facilities, including rolling road and track testing, designed to provide direction into the final setup and calibration of the prototype demonstrator.
